Southern Illinois Database of Exotic Plant Occurrences

Accurate and complete distribution information is a crucial part of developing an effective management strategy for invasive plants. The CWMA is partnering with the Plant Biology Department at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale to develop and maintain a database of exotic plant distributions.

The database started, with funding from the Shawnee National Forest, as a project to compile existing records from herbaria and surveys. Currently the database has over 12,000 records for over 400 exotic plants. We are currently adding new records to the database and have the goal of having any new data collected by the CWMA members to be included into this database.
